In conjunction with National Invasive Species Awareness Week, Governor Jay Inslee proclaimed February 24 to February 28, 2020 as Invasive Species Awareness Week to raise awareness and find preventative solutions for invasive species. A multiagency news release sent the week of February 17 will highlight the week and events to a statewide audience.
Your organization can get involved in a number of ways:
- Work with your city council or county commission to proclaim Invasive Species Awareness Week in that jurisdiction. The https://invasivespecies.wa.gov/projects/invasive-species-awareness-week/ web page features a sample proclamation for partners.
- If you do proclaim the week in your area, let us know and we will link to the proclamation or resolution on our web page and highlight it on social media.
- If your organization would like to host an event, reach out to let the council know and we can highlight the event to a statewide audience at https://invasivespecies.wa.gov/projects/invasive-species-awareness-week/.
- The council will be sharing social media messages on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter throughout the week providing detailed information on how the public can help stop invasive species. Like, share, retweet, and comment on our posts to help spread the word.
